about

Saint Paul writes about faith as the “substance of things hoped for, the possession of things not seen” (Heb 12:1). Yes, in faith, hope, and love we truly receive already, in advance, the fullness of God himself which we shall know, in the undimmed light of glory, in heaven, and which shall pervade the entire universe in the new creation which shall be made by God at the end of time. The same light of grace that permeates our consciousness now, little by little turning us from darkness to light, from sin to goodness, from loneliness to love, is the light that shall be our everlasting joy in heaven. They are one light: the light of God. What we bear now, in the obscurity of this fallen world, is one single light, and it shall illumine us, shall carry us, until the darkness definitively passes away and the light is made utterly manifest. On the verge of the Passion of Christ, we do well to remember this interplay of light and darkness, and to understand that the light is infinitely fuller, more real than the darkness, and that it alone gives redemptive meaning to all that shall occur in the remaining hours of the life of Christ, and shall burst forth in glory in his Resurrection.

And in all created words, silent, spoken, visible, musical, the one Word is made known: "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us." ... more
