about

This song sets the stage for the coming album, as the context of the Jewish feast of Passover—the Pasch—enfolds and illumines the events of Holy Week, in which occurred Jesus Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection. At the climax of this week, in the sacrifice of the passover lambs and the feast of communion following, Christ supremely elevated and infinitely fulfilled all the hints and aspirations of the Jewish Pasch, and indeed of all human history, in the gift of himself in perfect Love, and in the Communion born of this gift. The drama of this celebration, and of the “conflict and resolution” that occurs in the dramatic events of the three final days of Jesus’ earthly life, are hinted by the driving movement and the tolling bell in this song.
