about

“Show us the Father, and we shall be satisfied!” cries Philip to Jesus. “Why do you say to me ‘Show us the Father?” Christ replies. “Do you not know that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. He who sees me sees the Father” (cf. Jn 14:8-11). This reaching out of the human heart for the face of the Father, to behold the God who is infinite Beauty, is so central to the fabric of existence, whether we are aware of it or not. Even his journey during the last hours of his life was sustained, for Christ, by his repose in the love of his Father and by his longing to enter definitively into his everlasting embrace, even in all the fullness of his incarnate humanity, to which he had wed himself out of love for us, and thus also to bring us, with him, into the Father’s presence. “I will go and prepare a place for you, and I will come again, and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you also may be” (Jn 14:3).
